Crni Lug
Crni Lug is the central settlement of the Gorski kotar area. It’s 726 m above sea level. It’s white in winter and it’s full of flower in summer. It’s the starting point for the National Park Risnjak whose heights reach up to 1528 m above sea level. Although it’s a typical mountainous village, it talks about the touch of the continent and the Adriatic in a special way with its area and the preservation of the old customs. Here you can see how woods are treated and cut, how fir tree is cut into shingles, but you can also neat the only “Goran” carnival persons - ZVONČARE and the influence of the Adriatic can be seen here. The position of Crni Lug as the main entrance to the NP Risnjak is major tourist scope of this settlement with the possibilities of connecting similar economic branches.
NP Risnjak
National Park "Risnjak" is situated in the most wooded part of Gorski kotar. It’s only 15 kilometers far from the Adriatic Sea and to the north of the town of Rijeka. The peak of "Veliki Risnjak" (Great Risnjak) is 1528 m above the sea level and is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Croatia.
The main entrance in the Park is situated near the National Park Risnjak administration, where is also situated the Restaurant of the National Park and a little lake which is inhabited by ducks and small fishes. Several hiking trails as "Leska", "Horvat’s path" lead almost to the very top of the mountain hut.
